Super Easy, Family Friendly Recipe
This recipe is a favorite among our kids. It’s quick, easy, and you pretty much always have the ingredients on-hand at any time. I don’t know about you, but I love to pick up canned biscuits when they’re on a BOGO sale so it can also be quite affordable. If you want to get the kids involved with the cooking process this is also a great option as it’s really easy to make.
It took our 9 year-old son about 10 minutes to assemble but an adult can pull it off in about 5 minutes.

Biscuit Dough
This is where it gets a little confusing. We used a total of 2 containers of refrigerated biscuit dough but only 1.5 of them went into our casserole dish. The other half went to a different use for our son with allergies. Our casserole dish is also 9×11, so if you have the traditional size of 9×13 it should work fine with the full 2 containers. You want to make sure that your mixture isn’t more than half full in the casserole dish because the biscuit dough expands as it cooks.

Sauce
This is meant to be a really easy recipe that you can pull together with whatever you have on hand. So really any type of pizza or marinara sauce will work. If you want to use homemade sauce, go for it! But it’s not necessary for this recipe. We used Aldi’s cheaper sauce that was roasted garlic flavored.
Cutting the Dough
We decided that we wanted slightly bigger pieces so we cut our biscuits into 4 pieces, if you’d like them smaller you can also do 6 per biscuit. Feel free to use a cutting board and knife but we find it more efficient to use these scissors.

Mixing in the Ingredients
We did this step directly inside of our greased pan which probably removed some of the grease that we put in our dish. Feel free to do this next step in a bowl and then transfer it to the dish for baking.
Again, we want this recipe to be super easy and flexible to YOUR family’s preferences rather than what we like. We chose not to fill the inside with toppings but you can add any extra toppings you want to the dough mixture so it’s mixed throughout your bake rather than just on the top. Totally up to you!

Toppings
You can feel free to top this however you’d like. We used one additional one cup of mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, Italian seasoning, and garlic salt. Our son had a heavy hand pouring the seasoning but you’ll want to do it to your taste.

Baking Time
As you can see from the photo above, you don’t want to have this filled more than halfway in your dish because it does expand quite a bit. The more layers you have, the more time it will take to bake.
We started checking the doneness of our dough around 20 minutes. We didn’t want it to overbake but we also didn’t want it to be raw. To check for doneness, you pull it out of the oven and use a knife or fork in the center of your bake at slightly pierce into one of the biscuit pieces. When it’s done it will have the bread look rather than a slimy appearance.
We baked ours at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes but our pan is slightly smaller than the traditional size of 9×13 so our mixture was a little thicker.
If you notice that the top is starting to brown or is getting to your preferred color you can cover the whole thing with foil for the rest of the baking time until the biscuits are fully cooked.

Can I Make This Ahead of Time?
Unfortunately this one wouldn’t really work as well making it ahead of time. The dough would likely absorb too much sauce and it can effect how it bakes. But luckily this is a super quick one to throw together so it won’t take too much time out of your day.
What Sides Do You Serve With It?
This is totally up to you! A side salad would be my choice and would go great on the side of this pizza style meal. Any type of sauteed or steamed vegetable would also be a great choice as well. If you add enough veggies to the toppings you really don’t even need a side. Tomato sauce counts as a veggie right?? ๐

Equipment
- Casserole Dish Ours was 9×11 but it isn't a traditional size, 9×13 would work great too.
Ingredients
- 1.5 cans Refrigerated Biscuits Grands or 2 packs of the regular sized 10oz cans
- 1 c Pizza sauce Your choice. It can be marinara, pizza sauce, garlic tomato, meat, or whatever you have in your pantry.
- 2 c Shredded Mozzarella
- 2 tsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 tsp Garlic Salt
- Pepperoni
- Any other toppings of your choice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Use nonstick cooking spray or butter in your casserole dish.
- Important note: We used 2 cans of the large biscuits but only put 1.5 cans in our mixture. Biscuits expand while cooking and when they're too think they have an issue
- Open cans of refrigerated biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into 4-6 pieces and place into greased pan. You can also put them in a bowl and then put the mixed product in the casserole dish.
- Mix 1 cup of pizza sauce of your choice to the cut biscuit pieces.
- Add 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese to the pizza sauce and biscuit pieces and mix all together well.
- If you want some toppings on the inside of this pizza you can add them now and mix well.
- Take all of the mixture and flatten it lightly in the casserole dish.
- Top with another 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Add any toppings that you would like. We used pepperoni.
- Sprinkle about 1 tsp of garlic salt and 2 tsp of Italian seasoning. Or whatever amount you like taste-wise.
- Bake uncovered at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Start checking the progress of baking at around 20 minutes. You use a knife or fork to peek at the middle of the casserole dish to check to see the doneness of the biscuits. It takes a bit to get them fully cooked. If the top starts getting too dark you can cover with foil for the remainder of the cooking time.
- Once the biscuits are fully cooked at the center of the casserole you're ready to take it out and serve. I like to serve with a little container of additional sauce for dipping.
- Enjoy! The meal will take a few minutes to cool off so be careful with serving little ones.
